Description
In 1989, the Eisenhower Public Library published this history of the Norridge-Harwood Heights area, which is known as an “island” surrounded by the city of Chicago. The internet tells me “the area’s unique status is due to a combination of factors, including its farming heritage and the desire of its residents to govern themselves, which led to it incorporating as a village rather than being annexed by Chicago.”
This is a signed, first-edition, hardcover version of the book, in good used condition. There’s some discoloration to the spine, most likely just sun-fading as the cobalt blue print has now turned turquoise. And there’s a stamp on the title page, as seen in the pics here. But otherwise, this is in great shape. Please contact us with any questions, or if you’d like to request additional photos of this book.
And if you’d like to contribute to the next edition, the Eisenhower Public Library put out an open call for essays covering the years following the release of this book! Check it out here.
